Tips for a clean 150 KB file

  • •For an A4 page, 700×900 px is roughly 90 DPI. That is fine on screen; if the document will be re-printed, ask whether a larger cap is allowed.
  • •Turn off any 'document mode' filter on your phone scanner app for legal papers — it can erase faint but important pencil markings.

Frequently asked questions

Is 150 KB enough for a full A4 page?
For reading on screen, yes. For a page that will be printed again at full size, a 300 KB or larger cap gives a better result.
What if my scan is a PDF?
This tool works with JPG and PNG images. Export or screenshot the page as an image first, then compress it here.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. ShantiTools compresses the image entirely inside your browser — the file never leaves your device.

Common mistakes

  • •Uploading a screenshot — screenshots are already compressed and often produce blocky JPEGs. Use the original photo instead.
  • •Ignoring dimensions — a file can be the right KB but the wrong shape. This page sets 700×900 px automatically.
  • •Cropping too tightly — leave a small margin around the head and shoulders so the form does not cut the face.
  • •Wrong background — busy backgrounds eat KB and can get rejected. Plain white or light works best.

Troubleshooting

The result is still too big
Start with a smaller source file or crop closer to the face. If the form allows a smaller size, try 120 KB.
The result is too small
The source image may be very low resolution. Upload a larger original photo and retry.
My form rejected the upload
Double-check both the KB limit and the pixel dimensions in the form. Some forms also require exact aspect ratios (e.g. 3.5×4.5 cm).
